Hydrants no longer there.This feature class shows the location of all fire hydrants in the city of Woodstock, Georgia. Field work was done in March and April of 2009 by the Fire Department to inspect all hydrants in the city and verify their locations and attribute values. Hydrants082609 is a copy of an older feature class called "NewHydrants", with 60 new hydrant features added in and new attribute values for some already existing features. The older feature class NewHydrants should not be confused with the myriad of other feature classes named "NewHydrants". The NewHydrants feature class that served as the origin of Hydrants082609 can no longer be located. The origin of NewHydrants is unknown. The feature class NewHydrants was used to prepare a map book for the Fire Department to use in its spring 2009 hydrant inventory. Each hydrant in the city was inspected, and when a feature existed on the map where it did not in reality, it was marked to be moved or deleted. When a hydrant that existed in real life was not represented on the map, its approximate location was marked on the map so its location could later be recorded with a GPS. The new hydrants' locations and colors were recorded with the use of a Thales Mobile Mapper by the GIS Division in May 2009. Attribute data collected in the Fire Department's spring 2009 inspections were added to this feature class in August 2009. Additional hydrants were added after the spring 2010 inspections by George Williams. Locations were obtained using a Thales Mobile Mapper GPS device with ArcPad. Attribute information for the new hydrants was entered through a web mapping application. This feature class is updated every spring and every fall after the Fire Department inspections. New hydrant features are obtained using a Thales Mobile Mapper GPS device, and attribute information is updated using a web mapping application.
